Another Cape Town police station has been closed due to exposure to a Covid-19 case, this time in the Table View suburb.

Police spokeswoman Brigadier Novela Potelwa said the Table View Police Station community service center was currently operating from a mobile structure in the parking lot while the facility was being decontaminated.

“Members who have been in contact with the infected case undergo the necessary screening / tests and are under quarantine,” he said.

“So far, surveillance has not been affected. Station members are still making sure the compound is safe.”

Police previously said police stations were closed due to exposure to a Covid-19 case, and not necessarily because a police officer had tested positive for the virus.

The police station is across the street from the Bayside shopping center, where a Checkers store had to temporarily close due to cases being detected there.

Other seasons

Other police stations in the province that were temporarily closed include Cape Town Central, Bellville, Muizenberg, Bredasdorp and Struisbaai.

The spread of the virus also led some members of the Tshwane Police Joint Operating Committee to isolate themselves after a member tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday, police spokesman Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo told News24.

Naidoo, however, said that the self-insulators “are not the whole of Tshwane’s management.”

The last confirmed number of Covid-19 cases in the country is 11,350.
