Body of stabbed teenager found near cemetery in Port Elizabeth

Police are seeking community help to identify a teenager, about 16 years old, whose body was found in an open field in Jacksonville in Port Elizabeth on Sunday afternoon.

According to provincial police spokesman Colonel Priscilla Naidu, a community member alerted police around 12:45 that the body of a boy lay beside the cemetery.

He had suffered multiple stab wounds to the upper body. The circumstances surrounding death are unknown at this stage.

“The teenager is unknown and at the time of his death, he was wearing a pair of white Soviet takkies (ankle boots), blue sweat pants, and a brown sweat jacket.”

Naidu said that anyone who can assist the police in their investigation into the murder or in identifying the deceased should contact Detective Sergeant Tandiswa Nobebe at 067403 1910, SAPS Bethelsdorp at 041 404 3005, Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or his nearest police.

“All information is confidential and callers have the right to remain anonymous,” added Naidu.
