The Democratic Alliance (DA) sent to the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Competition, Ebrahim Patel, a book entitled “Electronic commerce, a South African perspective” through an electronic commerce platform.

This, the prosecutor said in a press release, was to show you how easy and beneficial electronic commerce is in the fight against COVID-19.

“We have also made a step-by-step video for the minister about the purchase of this book,” said the prosecutor.

“This is hoping to dispel any lingering questions you may have about your continued ban on unrestricted electronic commerce.”

The movement comes amid pressure from e-commerce executives and consumers to allow unrestricted e-commerce activity in South Africa.

Most countries internationally allow unrestricted electronic commerce during their COVID-19 locks, due to the contactless nature of the industry.

The reverse has happened in South Africa, despite e-commerce being criticized as a way to limit the impact of the coronavirus outbreak.

Online stores can only sell products that physical stores can sell, which seriously affected their operations.

The reason for this decision, which many people consider inadvisable and counterproductive, is “justice.”

Patel said e-commerce will continue to operate under restrictions due to concerns about fair competition.

“If we open any category, say e-commerce, there is inevitably tremendous pressure to do the same for physical stores,” said Patel.

The World Trade Organization fully supports electronic commerce

Last week, the World Trade Organization fully endorsed the use of electronic commerce amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The pandemic has made it clear that electronic commerce can be an important tool for consumers,” said the World Trade Organization.

“E-commerce can also support small businesses and, by making economies more competitive, be an economic engine for both domestic growth and international trade.”

The prosecutor said that “there really can be no more objections” from Patel and the government regarding electronic commerce. “

“To date, no one has given real and justifiable reasons why South Africans cannot buy what they want on the various platforms that exist in the country,” he said.

“In the end, the real reason we find ourselves in this position on electronic commerce boils down to the ideology by which Minister Patel is using this ban to achieve what he believes is fair.”

“The truth is that this crisis has no winners and it is not the time to determine what is and what is not fair.”

The district attorney said he hopes the minister will take his gift of this book and demo seriously and finally allow full and unrestricted commerce in e-commerce.
