JOHANNESBURG – Acting Democratic Alliance (DA) leader John Steenhuisen says the blockade is doing more damage to the economy than COVID-19.
The official opposition believes that the government has no justification for keeping the country locked up.
Steenhuisen says that President Cyril Ramaphosa must do the right thing and reopen the economy.
The interim DA leader is adamant that the level four block is doing more damage than good.
“We have replaced it with an even greater threat to our creation. The real tragedy here is no longer the coronavirus but the blockade itself.”
Steenhuisen says Ramaphosa must finish it immediately.
“This blockade is expensive and will cost many more lives than it can save.”
He says the shutdown is making things worse.
Steenhuisen says South Africans are tired of the blockade.
