One of the first 50 people who tested positive for Covid-19 says that only his immune system can fight the deadly virus.
“If you feel like you’re showing symptoms, the best thing you can do is isolate yourself and quarantine. You only have your immune system to fight this virus,” Megan said during a coronavirus transmission organized by the prosecutor on Thursday.
Megan, who did not want her last name published, teamed up with interim DA leader John Steenhuisen and the chief’s boss, Natasha Mazzone, virtually to provide a personal, first-hand account of her experience with the virus and to give Tips to South Africans during the 21-day blockade.
Megan said she believed she had contracted the virus while abroad.
“We were abroad, the night we went to a crowded pub for my brother’s birthday, it must have been that night when we contracted that virus.”
He added that he had experienced flu-like symptoms as those of his family members.

“We were very stressed when we first found out. I was worried about my father and brother because their symptoms were bad.
“What gave us peace of mind is that our doctor from the Health Department reviewed us every day.”
Since there is no cure for the deadly virus, which originated in Wuhan, China, Megan said she took medications to help alleviate symptoms, but that the fight to avoid the virus was left to her immune system.
“There is nothing you can take for the virus itself, but you can take medicine to ease its symptoms. It all comes down to staying hydrated, rested, and letting your immune system fight it off.”
Megan said South Africans should take advantage of this time during the shutdown to stay healthy and positive.
“It is about staying healthy and taking care of ourselves during this time in every way.
“Staying hydrated is the most important thing, even if you lose your appetite. [Consume] Tea, juice, soup, fruit, fresh and colorful food and vitamin C as a supplement. If you can’t get supplements, you can find it in your diet, “he added.
As of Wednesday, the country has registered 1,845 cases of Covid-19, with 18 deaths.
