Jack Grealish teases Manchester United transfer with cheeky hint

Jack Grealish has dropped a cheeky hint over a possible summer move to Manchester United.

The Aston Villa man is high on United’s wanted list this summer, with the club expected to prioritize a move for Grealish over James Maddison.

United have redrawn their transfer plans following the coronavirus pandemic, with Ed Woodward keen to stress that big-money signings will likely be beyond the club in the current economic climate. It means United will be keen to trim costs where possible, and could lead to them shelving their bid to sign top target Jadon Sancho this summer.

But United believe they can land Grealish for around £ 60million, making the Aston Villa captain a cheaper option to Maddison, who will command a fee of around £ 80million.

And asked for an alternative to his current No10 shirt, Grealish spotted an opportunity to woo his admirers.

Grealish said on Instagram: “I used to love seven growing up because of Cristiano [Ronaldo]. “

The 24-year-old has impressed for Premier League strugglers Villa this season, scoring seven goals in 26 starts before the campaign was put on hold in March.

He was also on the brink of an England call-up when football was brought to a halt across the UK, and Villa team-mate Conor Hourihane believes Grealish has finally outgrown the club.

“If I’m being brutally honest, he’s too good for our team at Aston Villa,” said Hourihane.
