Gibbs has always been active on Twitter and on Thursday he turned to the social media platform and, after a fan asked for it, gave his best side, which was the same for both formats.

Gibbs himself is a name that often comes up when talking about the best cricket players South Africa has ever produced.

At 46, Gibbs played in 90 test matches, 248 ODI and 23 T20I for his country between 1996 and 2010.

Gibbs, one of the most naturally pleasing hitters of his time, surely would have made a great player in the world of T20 cricket if he had played in the current era.

Perhaps the biggest surprise on his side was the inclusion of former left sprinter Brett Schultz.

Schultz played nine tests and an ODI between 1992 and 1997, as his career was affected by injury.

“The team is as much for testing as it is for ODI. Schultz is a bowler that unfortunately the world could never see enough of, evil as a damn.” Gibbs wrote.

The best proteas test from Herschelle Gibbs and ODI XI:

Graeme Smith, Gary Kirsten, Hashim Amla, Jacques Kallis, Daryll Cullinan, AB de Villiers, Mark Boucher, Shaun Pollock, Dale Steyn, Allan Donald, Brett Schultz
