Like all couples, Kate and Prince William have faced many trials during their long relationship. Long before the pomp and ceremony of their fairytale wedding at Westminster Abbey, and before Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis were even a glimmer to William’s eyes, William and Kate were fresh out of high school in the middle of a long distance relationship. During this period, the young men reportedly had a fight after William refused to spend New Year’s Eve with Kate’s family.

The fall is believed to have been one of the driving factors behind a fleeting breakup, which was heartbreaking for the couple, but taught them valuable lessons about themselves and their relationship.

Referring to the tumultuous moment for the couple in a discussion about Kate and William’s wedding, in the midst of the couple’s ninth wedding anniversary on April 29, royal expert Angela Mollard explained that the brief breakup had given the Cambridge the space they needed to question their relationship.

She told the ROYALS podcast this week: “It felt like a wedding in no rush.

“They had all those years together.

“They had separated during that time.

“So they were really able to question whether this was a relationship that they wanted to move on.”

Referring to more recent footage from the Cambridges, Ms. Mollard argued that the pair now seem stronger than ever.

She said, “And when you look at those images, they certainly seem stronger than ever.”

Speaking about the separation, William previously admitted that he gave him the space he needed at the time.

He said, “Well, I think, to be honest, I wouldn’t believe everything you read in the newspaper, but in that particular case we got a little apart.

“But that was just, we were both very young, it was in the university, we were kind of like meeting as such and being different characters. We tried to find our own way and we were growing, so it was a little bit of space and stuff and it worked for the better. ”

Kate has also shared her views on the temporary breakup, revealing that it made her stronger.

She said, “I think at the time I wasn’t very happy about it, but it actually made me a stronger person. You discover things about yourself that you may not have realized, or I think a relationship can consume you a lot when you are younger. And I really valued that time for myself as well, although I didn’t think about it at the time, looking back. ”
