JOHANNESBURG – Five suspects were shot to death during a botched money-in-transit robbery in Boksburg.
Two more thieves were arrested in this morning’s incident in Dawn Park.
Authorities managed to recover some of the stolen money, along with four firearms and three allegedly stolen vehicles.
Wednesday’s theft comes just two days after criminals carried out a cash in transit at Evaton, where a witness said they took a revealed amount of money.
Police Brenda Muridili said authorities were notified of the incident through a notice.
“The Sedibeng tactical response team and the Ekurhuleni SWAT team followed up on the information that led them to Klippoortjie on Carol Avenue. Upon arrival at the identified safe house, there was a shootout between the suspects and the police. The National Commissioner of the South African Police Service, General Khehla Sitole, has appreciated the collaborative efforts that resulted in the CIT-related union in the country.
