- Police say gunmen broke into a house near Nyanga and opened fire on the people inside.
- Four family members were shot dead and a fifth was injured.
- Police have activated a 72-hour plan in an attempt to track down the killers.
Four members of the family were killed and another was wounded by unknown gunmen at Browns Farm, Cape Town, on Thursday.
According to the police, preliminary reports revealed that the armed men forcibly entered a house on Makhosi Street and shot dead three women aged 18, 30 and 69.
“An 11-year-old boy was also killed during the shooting,” police spokesman Brigadier Novela Potelwa said in a statement on Friday.
Potelwa said the injured person was taken to a medical facility for treatment.
“The SAPS 72-hour activation plan is underway and resources have been mobilized to track down and arrest the perpetrators of the shooting,” he added.
