JOHANNESBURG – The latest figures from the Department of Health show that South Africa now has 4,793 confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19).
The death toll in the country also rose to 90 after three patients succumbed to COVID-19.

As of today, the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in South Africa is 4,793.
The total number of tests carried out to date is 178,470, of which 9,827 were performed in the last 24 hours. # COVID-19 # Coronavirus update

With more than 1,470 people who have recovered from COVID-19, the national recovery rate is now 30%.
Gauteng is one of the provinces that has shown a remarkable recovery rate of 62% with eight confirmed deaths.
The recovery rate in the Western Cape is 14%, with 35 patients who have succumbed to the coronavirus.
KwaZulu-Natal recorded a recovery rate of 27% while representing 30 COVID-19 related deaths in the country.
More than 178,000 tests have been carried out in recent weeks and the campaign is intensifying in the coming days.
Globally, more than three million people have been infected with the disease that claimed more than 211,000 lives. So far, just over 922,000 patients have recovered.
