CAPE TOWN – Safety fears will cause the bail request of the man charged with the murder of a Cape Town detective to unfold in Bellville Regional Court.
Zane Killian, 39, appeared in Bishop Lavis Magistrates Court Wednesday. He was arrested in Springs, Gauteng, on September 21.
Anti-Gang Unit detective Charl Kinnear was shot and killed outside his home several weeks ago.
Wednesday was Killian’s fourth appearance on the dock. The matter was transferred to the Bellville Regional Court for the initiation of the bond application.
Three days were reserved for the application on October 26, 27 and 30.
He has been charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and illegal wiretapping.
The spokesman for the National Tax Authority (NPA) in the Western Cape, Eric Ntabazalila, said all parties agreed that the matter should be transferred from Bishop Lavis’s court.
“Security issues were raised in court and the NPA was tasked with organizing an alternative venue,” Ntabazalila said.
