JOHANNESBURG – Two KwaZulu-Natal students have been suspended for bullying a classmate at Mathole High School in Zululand District.

A video has been widely shared on social media showing the attack, which has led to the couple’s suspension.

A girl can be seen in the footage, dragging the victim to the ground by her underwear and kicking her in the face as the victim sits on the ground helplessly.

The other student has been suspended for documenting the incident.

The province’s Education Department said it was investigating the motive for the attack.

Department spokesman Kwazi Mthethwa said: “We have realized that keeping that at the school will not help the investigation that is already underway. We will make sure they receive professional therapy from our social workers. “
