The Gauteng High Court, based in Benoni, convicted Amos Mphikeleli Ngubeni, 28, on Monday after being convicted of 14 counts of rape.
He was also convicted of kidnapping, robbery, theft, four counts of breaking and entering with the intention of committing a crime unknown to the State, seven counts of aggravated robbery and pointing an object that is likely to lead the person to believe that it is a weapon. of fire.

Ngubeni committed the crimes in and around Benoni between 2011 and 2012. He raped 14 women, aged between 18 and 21, using different tactics to attack them.
He broke into some of the women’s houses, robbed and raped them, sometimes with an accomplice.
Ngubeni was arrested at his home on August 4, 2019 in Balfour, Mpumalanga, after DNA tests linked him to the crimes. He pleaded guilty to 28 counts.
State defender Cornelia Harmzen said most of the victims did not heal from their emotional wounds.
National Tax Authority spokesman Lumka Mahanjana said investigating officer Sergeant Nkoana did a magnificent job locating and arresting the defendants.
“For many of the victims, their hope for a different and better life is in the fact that the accused is punished for what he has done to them.”
