Advanced B Score X Score: Cubs 8, Reds 5 – September 10, 2020

That game was long. No, it didn’t start at 7:15 a.m. on time due to rain, but it went around 8:30 a.m. and then didn’t wrap up for more than four hours (and a little late, with unnecessary stress) to boot). Also, hey, chicks won! It’s a series win over the Reds at the right time. I’m not saying Cincinnati’s season is definitely over, but the hope for their split is over.

But let’s focus tonight. Air, well, yesterday.

The Reds started the game with Edbert Alzoleni, who had a weak command and was hit early and often hard, completely crushing the liners. And unfortunately, those issues went into his back innings, when he gave up the second run, putting the Cubs into an early 3-0 deficit. In the end, Alzol ran only 3.2 IP with 3 hits, 2 walks and 3 hard touch earnings (we’ll talk more about that tomorrow, it wasn’t really good).

Luckily, the Cubs returned immediately after Alzol left, hitting five runs in the fourth inning, two of which came on an infield single by Ian Hep which allowed Nico Horner to score from the second base – he was an excellent * send and better base cubes second Run by Baseman:

The Cubs got the second run in an innings on a wild pitch and the selection of a fielder by Anthony Rizzo – those five runs were tied in the most innings this season and were the first runs by the Cubs since the 3rd inning. On tuesday.

The Cubs added two more innings to the next inning and that was enough for the night (the Reds made things fun late, which required an unnecessary appearance from Jeremy Jeffers, but they were heading for the win).

Personally, Ian Hep had a very rough night with 4 more strikeouts and Xavi Base continued to struggle (0-5, 3K), swinging to God who knows what:

But Wilson went 4-4 with Contreras walk and 4 doubles (definitely more on that tomorrow), 2-4 with Cameron Maybin triple, Bryzo combined 4 hits and two walks and collectively Cubs scored 8. 13 hits and 7 wickets, so what should we complain about?

Oh, there was also this indescribable moment where picking David Ross ran for Nico Horner … one of the fastest guys on the team, also becoming the best defensive option on a second base, which also needs as much developmental time this year. Possible માટે for Billy Hamilton, who came in and was caught stealing on the first pitch. It was… weird, especially when he scored four runs in the 7th inning. But again, the Cubs won. So whatever.

Big series this weekend. Get it. Go kids.
