Adam Lambert presented a smooth and socially distanced version of “Mad World” and a heartfelt speech during the Global Pride 2020 virtual event.
“I wanted to wish you all a Happy World Pride,” he told the camera before his presentation during the live broadcast on Saturday (June 27). “It is amazing to be part of the LGBTQ + community. I am very proud of my brothers and sisters. We are incredible. The progress we have made in the last 10 years since I have been in the public eye has been incredibly inspiring.”
“That doesn’t mean there isn’t much work to do,” he continued. “We all know this. History is never a straight line of progress. There are setbacks, there are side by side.”
Lambert went on to say, “In light of the recent Black Lives Matter protests that have been taking place around the world, I think it is our responsibility as a community to use our empathy, to give a little more love and support to our community members. who are people of color. So let’s take advantage of this time during World Pride to connect as much as we can, to reach out, make new friends, educate ourselves, listen, participate. This is a very, very important time to come together to be stronger as one unit. Let’s make a big and proud rainbow of all the different colors as much as we can this summer and fight and fight proud. “
Global Pride, a 24-hour live broadcast hosted by Todrick Hall, brought celebratory and celebratory vibes to the LGBTQ + community, while Pride Month events in person were canceled amid the coronavirus pandemic.
