A study in Singapore found that babies born to Kovid-19 mothers had antibodies.

SINGAPORE, Dec 18 (Reuters) – Five babies born to women infected with the Covid-19 infection in a study in Singapore have antibodies to the virus, although researchers say it is not yet clear what level of protection it provides.

The findings of a study of 16 women released on Friday also found that most were mildly infected, while older women with a body D mass index had more severe reactions – a trend that is reflected in the general population.

According to the Singapore Obstetrics and Gynecology Research Network, all five babies delivered to their babies had antibodies by the time the study was published.

The number of antibodies varies in babies, and those whose mothers were ‘closer to the time of delivery’ were more, the researchers said. Further monitoring is needed to see if antibodies will decrease as children get older. (Reporting by Chen Lin and John Gapdy; Editing by Michael Perry)
