A Roman-era Egyptian baby mummy scans with laser-like precision

An Egyptian Mummy It was adorned with a portrait of a woman who had a surprise – the body of a child who died when she was only 5 years old. Now, scientists have learned more about the mysterious girl and her burial, using high-resolution scans and X-ray “Microbeams” that target very small regions of intact artifacts.

Computed X-ray tomography (CT) A scan of the mother’s teeth and femur confirmed the girl’s age, although they showed no signs of trauma to her bones that could indicate the cause of her death.
