A nice knife attack is considered terrorism


PARIS – A knife attack on a church in the southern French city of Nice on Thursday morning killed at least two people, local officials said it appeared to be a terrorist attack.

The attack came at a time when the country was still witnessing Prophet Muhammad’s strategy in a class by a young Muslim man beheading a teacher in a Paris Reis suburb a month ago.

Mayor of Nice, Christian Astrosi, A statement posted on Twitter shortly after the attack said That he was at the scene with the police and a suspect was arrested. He later said at least two people were killed and one was seriously injured.

“I confirm that Notre-Dame indicates a terrorist attack in the basilica,” Mere wrote.

Eric Siotti, a legislator representing the region, which includes Nice, told reporters in Paris that “it looks like a terrorist attack” based on information provided to him by the emergency services.

France’s interior minister, Gerald Durmani, said in a post on Twitter that he had called an emergency meeting.

The attack took place on the Notre-Dame de l’Assoption Basilica, and local officials did not immediately release details about the victims or the circumstances. Police warned residents to stay away from the area around the church as a “very serious” incident was taking place and controlled explosives were being used. They also urged residents to remain calm.

In 2001, Nice was also the site of one of France’s deadliest terrorist attacks, when a man drove a 19-ton refrigeration truck into a crowd on a promenade along the city’s main seaside to watch the fireworks, killing 86 people.
