8,436 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Florida


JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Department of Health reported 8,436 new cases of coronavirus on Sunday.

According to the state Department of Health, 1,058,074 people in Florida have tested positive for COVD-19 since the outbreak began.

On Sunday, 96 additional coronavirus-related deaths were also reported in the state. Thirteen of them were in Duval County (6 deaths)

Since the onset of the epidemic, 19,423 people in Florida have died from the virus.

Daily cases have been reported in Florida and Duval County since June 1

As of 4:30 p.m. Sunday, 4,401 people in Florida had been hospitalized with a primary diagnosis of COVID-19, the state agency for health said.

The statewide positivity rate was 86. 86%, based on Saturday’s test, the health department said Sunday.

Common symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, muscle aches and taste or smell. Most people only develop mild symptoms. But some people, usually due to other medical complications, develop more serious symptoms, including pneumonia.
