With the end of the NFL season upon us, that means the league’s annual coaching purge is going into high gear. When the season began in September, there were 32 head coaches around the NFL, but not every one of them will return in 2021.

In fact, we already know three coaches who will definitely not return and that is Bill O’Brien, Dan Quinn and Matt Patricia, who all axed during the season. The NFL has seen the highest number of three in-season firings since 2010 when four coaches were let go.

Going into the 2021 se fisson, there could be as many as six teams in search of six new coaches and that number could be even higher if we see a surprise move. We’ll find all the latest news as teams begin their search for the right coach. To keep you up to date on the latest shots, rumors and hirings, be sure to keep the tbs on the coaching tracker below.

Fired: Bill O’Brien
Rented: TBD

O’Brien was the first coach to be sacked this season and the move back in October when the Texans decided to give him a pink slip after a 0-4 start that included a loss to the Chiefs, Steelers and Ravens. Since then, Texans have had Rented a search engine To help them find their new coach. Search firm according to ESPN.com Recommended Someone should consider hiring Houston to Brian Schottheimer, the outspoken coordinator of Seahawks. It is also believed that Houston will keep an eye on Eric Binimi, the chiefs’ offensive coordinator. Although the Texans have not formally interviewed any of those candidates, they have conducted at least two interviews and were accompanied by former NFL head coach Marvin Lewis and Jim Caldwell. Texas also has an open GM job and the belief is that they will fill that role before hiring a new coach.

Fired: Dan Quinn
Rented: TBD

Since Dan Quinn was fired after starting 0-5 in October -5, the Falcons have been playing things close to the West that they will now hire at a later date. Since Quinn was let go, the team has only had a formal formal visit of one candidate and that is interim coach Rahim Morris. According to NFL.com, the Falcons also seem to have their eye on the Titans’ offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, as well as defensive coordinator Todd Bowles (Bucaniers) and Brandon Staley (Rams). However, the Falcons have yet to arrange an interview with any of the three, they have set. Two interviews for Monday. One of the interviews will be with 49ers ‘defensive coordinator Robert Saleh while the other will be with Eric Binimi, the chiefs’ offensive coordinator. The Falcons will also be on the market for GM after firing Tho Thomas Dimitroff.

Fired: Matt Patricia
Rented: TBD

Singh gave the NFL a Thanksgiving surprise when the team decided to fire Patricia just two days after she hit the Texans 411-25 on a Turkish day. The Lions have only had one interview since the shooting and he came with former Bengal coach Marvin Lewis in late December. According to Fox Sports, the Lions will be interested in talking to a number of candidates, including interim coach Darrell Bowell, Chiefs Chiefs ‘offensive coordinator Eric Bianimi and 49ers’ defensive coordinator Robert Saleh. The Lions will also be keeping an eye on Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald, according to CBS Sports NFL insider Jason La Canfora.

Fired: Adam Gas

Gas tried to save his job with two big wins over the Rams and Browns at the end of the season, but that wasn’t enough to convince the Jets to keep him. Gas was fired on Sunday after just two seasons with the team where he went only 9-23. With gas out, don’t be surprised if the jets keep an eye on the rank of the cage. When the job opened two years ago, they interviewed several college coaches before hiring Gas and would not be surprised if they interviewed many more college college candidates this time. CBS Sports NFL insider Jason La Canfora reports that the team could potentially show interest in both North Northwestern’s Pat Fitzgerald and Florida’s Dan Mullen. The Jets could also go after Marvin Lewis because of his relationship with current New York general manager Joe Douglas. Douglas also likes Ravens defensive coordinator Wink Martindale and wouldn’t be surprised if he reached out to her. Offensive coordinator Brian Dabol (Bill) and Arthur Smith (Titans) are the other two names to be seen.

Fired: Dr. Mar Maron

When the Jaguars fired general manager Dave Caldwell in November, it looked like they were talking about the time before they fired Maron, and that’s exactly what happened on Monday. The Jaguars finished 1-15 for the top overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, beating Maron in Jacksonville after the season. CBS Sports NFL insider Jason La Canfora previously reported that Jugs would seriously consider hiring former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer if Maron is fired. According to NFL.com, both the mayor and current OSU coach Ryan Day will be considered for open Jaguars jobs. One thing to remember about this job is that it is one of the most exciting in the NFL. Not only is Jacksonville sitting on the first overall pick in the 2021 draft, but the Jags also have a lot of caps to work on for next season, which means a new coach – and a new GM – could turn things around pretty well. Soon.

Fired: Anthony Lynn

The Chargers won the final four games of their season, but that wasn’t enough to save Lynn’s job. Although Lee led the team to the playoffs in 2018, the last two seasons have not been kind to the Chargers head coach. Not only has it been 11-21 in the last two years, but the Chargers have also suffered the most one-score losses in that period and much of that has come from coaching the game’s final game. With Justin Herbert on the roster, this is going to be a famous work and one name to watch is Brian Double. Bill’s offensive coordinator Chargers went to high school with General Manager Tom Telesco and wouldn’t be surprised if Telesco arrives in the near future.

The coach is expected to return

Zac Taylor: Although the Bengals are expected to make a number of changes to their coaching staff, Taylor will not be one of them. Not only does Bur have a ga relationship with Burroughs, but he also has wins over the steelers under his belt, which means a lot in Cincinnati. Basically, Taylor things will definitely take at least a year more.

Pedg Pederson: Despite an ugly season, Pederson is expected to keep his job. According to ESPN.com, Pederson will meet with Eagles owner Jeffrey Lury on Tuesday and during that meeting, they will talk about their vision for 2021. One of the main issues will probably be C Carson Wentz, who obviously doesn’t want to. Now living in Philadelphia. ESPA reports that Wentz has sought trade and a major reason is his fractured relationship with Pederson.
