2021 Mercedes S-Class Interior Mocked, Big MBUX Reveal Due July 8

It was in February 2019 when we first saw the XXL touchscreen that will dominate the center console of the S-Class W223. Fast forward to July 2020, Mercedes is about to make it official. Ahead of a world premiere scheduled for September, Daimler’s flagship model will be unveiled on Wednesday on the online platform Mercedes me media where fans of the three-pointed star can learn all about the latest products.

Despite the fact that the car will not be revealed in its entirety, Mercedes has established a live broadcast that will begin on July 8 at 11:30 CEST / 5:30 AM EDT. At the moment, all we’re getting is the previously released teaser that showcases the front fascia of the new S along with a first official glimpse of the tablet-like MBUX infotainment system.

Not that the outgoing S-Class W222 has many conventional in-dash controls anyway, but its successor will adopt an even more streamlined dash where the touchscreen will take center stage. The screen size isn’t known at the moment, though it’s safe to say it will be more or less similar to the 17-inch configuration Tesla has on the S and X models.

Its large size will swallow most features, with the adjacent preview showing climate control settings at the bottom and a generous navigation screen in the top section. Needless to say, the instrument cluster will also be fully digital, and those recent highly revealing spy photos indicated that the S-Class will have an advanced display screen. HUD will most likely endorse augmented reality for the navigation system to reinforce the car’s decades-long tradition of being a technological tour de force.

When it comes to the oily parts, we know that the V12 will continue to work in the new S-Class, but only in Maybach models, as the AMG S65 will not return. For the first time, Mercedes will sell the V12 variant with all-wheel drive, while the smaller six and eight-cylinder engines will adopt a smooth hybrid configuration. As with the W222, four-cylinder engines will be offered in select countries.

Standard, long and extra long wheelbases were recently confirmed, along with rear wheel steering and a Tier 3 autonomous system that will eventually be followed by a Tier 4 setup. The next generation S will be fully platform mounted. new that has been developed since 2015 and will be adopted by a large number of models to distribute costs.

Check back Wednesday for the live stream and all the details about the renovated interior.
