2020 Tony Award Nominations: Jagged Little Peel, Moulin Rage, Slave Play, Lead the Pack


Nominations for the 2020 Tony Awards were announced on October 15. Tony winner James Monroe Eaglehart (Aladdin) Ad host; Watch the video and see the full list below.

Alenis Moriset Musical Jaggi Little Pill Led the pack with 15 nominations, earning at least one nomination in each character category (including six for the show’s lead cast). Moulin Rouge! Not far behind even after getting 14 nominations. Two and Tina: Tina Turner Musical Include this year’s best musical category, locking up another show as effectively as it deserves: Lightning Thief.

In the play category, Jeremy O. Harris’ Slave play And Matthew Lopez Legacy Topped with 12 (highest for most games) and 11 nominations, respectively. Joining the two in the main production category are base whales Grand Horizons, Adam Apps The Sound Inside, And Sea Wall / A Life From Simon Stephens and Nick Payne.

The 74th Annual Festival honors the Broadway season shortened by the coronavirus epidemic, as the show went dark on March 12 and will be closed until at least June 2021 (and later). As the Broadway League and the American Theater Wing set the February 19 eligibility cut-determined, 18 total productions are in preparation for this year’s awards, which are shown here.

Some producers started previews or opened between that date and March 12, although nominees or voters did not see them in time to determine.

Well, maybe next year: one moment show you won’t see nominated for the 2020 Tony Awards

There is no official word yet on whether the ceremony will be held virtually this year.
