2 World Cup qualifiers scammed for $ 100,000 + amid organization collapse

Two World Cup qualifiers were confirmed to be scammed for more than $ 100,000 after a corrupt organization went missing with their bag … It’s just the beginning of a much longer rabbit hole.

XXM and XMende are two Fortnite players who may have overlooked your eyes only once or twice in your entire life. Why? They were the only two Chinese players to qualify for the Duo World Cup final, and the LAN event is probably the only chance you’ve had to see them.

But to adequately show the injustice that is happening to these players, we have to step back and discuss the chaos that was, and is, the competitive Chinese Fortnite.

While the current state of the competitive Chinese Fortnite can be described as a disaster, it was not always the case. To qualify for events in China, players on the mainland were locked in the region and forced to compete separate from the entire world.

The World Cup was simply the first and only event Fortnite organized on a global scale in which China had a guaranteed presence. With a prize pool of $ 30,000,000 dedicated for one weekend, this gave players and investors a broad incentive.

China’s route to the World Cup was completely different from how the rest of the world competed. After multiple rounds online, a Chinese mainland LAN was held where the duo and solo won a ticket to New York City.

While XXM and XMende weren’t ranked as the best duo in China, they flew to Japan and stole a spot from the Asia region in Week 5. Both got $ 50,000 after a “lackluster” performance at the World Cup.

I will add that it is not entirely his fault. The competitive version of Fortnite in China is completely different from the stacked / spinning goal game ending we’re used to. Note: Although Chinese Fortnite did not include key mechanisms such as movement zone, competitors played in the international version for tournaments. Also, for many weeks leading up to the World Cup, players kicked out of China (mainly Japan and Korea)

After the World Cup proved that China lagged far behind everyone else, along with Epic’s inability to continue to fuel the dimly lit flame, investors fell like flies. I will lose the rest of the details, but you can see the Rhidax mini-document for the consequences.

Fast forward to today when new information on the two qualifiers for the Chinese duo saw the light of day. Rhidax, a source close to the Chinese competitive scene, announced that one of China’s largest Fortnite (Newbee) teams at the time of departure scammed its players.

Neither of them competed in any events after the World Cup final, cementing the theory that Newbee’s accommodation of their legitimately earned funds pushed them to resign.

A source close to XXM and XMende observed a bleak outlook. “There is not much to do,” WenQian said, referring to the notion of covering up injustice. “They are gone … as if I was going to get my money back,” she finished with

WenQian himself played in Newbee alongside the duo’s qualifiers and also received $ 10,000 from non-World Cup related events.

While the entire Chinese Fortnite scene was riddled with leeches that left once the water dried up, the potential was undoubtedly there. And while this specific injustice will probably never be rectified due to the complex foreign legal system, there is something to learn here:

Do your due diligence when signing any contract. Organizations are seeking profit as much as you are, and some will not play at the same moral level as you. In this case, two players had to learn the hard way after logging into this problem to start with

If you’re an aspiring Fortnite player, don’t feel like signing with a team is the pinnacle of your career. In fact, it could be to your detriment more often than you think. Focus on becoming a great player and getting even bigger content and the rest will follow
