1 in 10 North Dakotans tested positive for COVID-19


Although active cases have been steadily declining, a total of 76,442 people have tested positive since the onset of the epidemic, meaning that 1 in 10 North Dakotons has COVID-19.

Ten deaths were reported Thursday – five men and five women – from Burley, Case, Dickey, Foster, McHenry, Mackenzie and Ward counties. The number of hospitalized due to COVID-19 is currently 302, with 38 in the ICU. Only 14.14% of staff beds are available in North Dakota. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates the number of deaths in COVID-19 by 10,600 to 21,400 more by December 19, 2020. Experts warn that Thanksgiving gatherings could contribute to an increase in deaths across the country.

The state has the highest number of reported cases in Burley and Ward counties. Case County has 219 cases involved, while Basleh County, which includes Bismarck, has 156 new cases. Ward County reported 104 additional cases Thursday.

Neighboring Morton and Stark counties now have 436 and 288 active cases, respectively. Grand Forks County reported 34 cases, while Williams County in Williston reported a total of ૨ 237 cases.

Billings County currently has no active cases.

Not only is the number of active cases in Case County, the state also has the highest death rate. In Case County, 122 residents have died as a result of COVID-19, as well as 119 in Burley County, 127 in Ward County and 68 in Morton County.

No COVID-19 deaths were reported in Opera, Golden Valley, Billings and Adams County.
